A crash on I-40 westbound after the NC-54 exit (MM 273) and before the exit for US 15-501 caused major problems for commuters Friday afternoon.
The left lane was blocked as a result of the accident. Earlier, two left lanes on the westbound side were blocked.

Another wreck on I-40 created trouble for eastbound motorists. An accident on I-40 eastbound blocked the right lane at NC-751 (MM 274).

The trouble did not end when you exited the interstate. Just south of I-40 on Fordham Blvd (US 15-501) an accident had the left two lanes blocked on the southbound side near Eastowne Dr.
