The North Carolina Department of Transportation is working on replacing the Arthur Minnis Road Bridge that crosses New Hope Creek in Hillsborough.

Local traffic will still have access to locations on both sides of the bridge, however a portion of the road near the work zone will be closed until the bridge is completed in mid-December.

Detours around the closure are possible using Borland Road, Dodsons Crossroads, Dairyland Road and Rocky Ridge.

The replacement of the bridge is part of the NCDOT’s overall bridge program to improve the condition of the state’s bridges and ensure the safety of drivers who rely on them.

Arthur Minnis Road Bridge was built in 1954 and according to NCDOT, it no longer meets the demands of the traffic using it.

NCDOT reminds drivers to watch signs for construction information, stay alert, and obey the speed limit.
