The NC Governor’s Highway Safety Program is kicking off its “Obey the Sign or Pay the Fine” campaign.

The campaign is meant to prevent speeding by focusing on drivers that are above the posted speed limit, even if it just a few miles per hour over.

“Many Americans believe they won’t be ticketed if they drive within a ‘buffer zone’ above the posted speed limit,” the program announced in a statement Wednesday. “Law enforcement will be targeting and ticketing speeding drivers at all times.”

The statement said the posted speed limit is the law and it would be enforced as such.
