The North Carolina Department of Transportation is holding an informal meeting with the public to discuss road improvements on Mount Carmel Street and Bennett Road in Orange County.

The meeting will take place on Thursday at Culbreth Middle School in Chapel Hill from 4:00 p.m to 7:00 p.m.

The purpose of the improvements is to increase vehicular safety by reducing crash statistics in the area through an intersection upgrade.

Citizens interested in attending the event can show up at any time during the meeting hours. Representatives from the DOT will be there to answer any questions and hear any comments.

Citizens will also have the opportunity to submit any questions or comments in writing. Questions and comments should be submitted no later than June 30.
