NAACP Protests Pause For Memorial Day

RALEIGH – The North Carolina NAACP is taking a break on Memorial Day from its weekly protesting outside the General Assembly. The NAACP is now calling for a mass rally June 3.

The civil rights group says next Monday it will introduce the new wave of protestors who will risk arrest.

Chapel Hillians have been making the commute to Raleigh to protest against what they call “regressive policies.” So far more than 150 people have been arrested. The number of protesters and supporters has grown each week.

The NAACP also plans to release more details on a 25-county summer tour of North Carolina, taking their rallies on the road.
