Carrboro Board of Alderman member Damon Seils was detained on Friday morning during a protest of the North Carolina General Assembly.

The legislature has been in special session since Wednesday dealing with legislation that will remove some political power from Governor-elect Roy Cooper.

News & Observer reporter Colin Campbell tweeted a picture of Seils with his hands in zip ties on Friday.

This was the second day in a row that protests of the legislature’s actions. Hillsborough commissioner Jenn Weaver was one of the protesters arrested on Thursday at the General Assembly.

Seils was detained after protesters began chanting “all political power comes from the people.”
