Just a few days into the new year, Chapel Hill has seen another incident involving a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle – this time, in the Meadowmont community.

In an email, Meadowmont Community Association manager Bill Ferrell said a resident of the neighborhood was struck by a car on Monday just before 9 am, while crossing Sprunt Street on the Greenway Trail. According to Ferrell, “the individual was injured and transported to UNC Hospital.” (No word on the extent of the injuries, but they’re not reported as life-threatening.)

The pedestrian was reportedly crossing at a posted crosswalk; officials are reminding everyone that the law requires drivers to stop for pedestrians in crosswalks.
