Chapel Hill emergency officials reversed an apparent heroin overdose Friday utilizing Naloxone.

All law enforcement in Orange County carries that overdose reversal drug.

Friday’s incident involved Chapel Hill police being dispatched to a cardiac arrest, which officers determined was evidently an overdose.

A second naloxone dose was administered by firefighters after the individual was still unresponsive. The subject was then transported to UNC Hospitals for additional treatment.

This is not the first time Chapel Hill officials have used naloxone, which the police department has been certified to carry since August 2015.
