Emergency crews in Burlington responded to an area of North Fisher Street near Webb Avenue in reference to a pedestrian who had been struck by a train, on Tuesday afternoon.

Officers located a subject near the tracks who suffered fatal injuries as result of the collision with an Amtrak train. The incident occurred at 2 o’clock.

The train was traveling north just prior to its arrival at the Burlington Amtrak Station.

Amtrak personnel reported seeing the victim walking beside the track just prior to the accident.

Police identified the victim as 25-year-old Franklin D. Gwynn of Burlington.

The investigation into the cause of the accident is ongoing.
