Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools Superintendent Tom Forcella will serve at least three years and seven months more in that position, with a $4,735 annual raise.

The Board of Education unanimously approved that resolution at Thursday night’s meeting.

Forcella was hired to succeed longtime Superintendent Neil Pedersen when he left in 2011.

In Forcella’s annual evaluation, Board of Education Chair Jamezetta Bedford credited him with, among other things, “improving instruction; closing achievement gaps; improving learning through infusing a growth mindset; and addressing accountability issues.”

Other board members praised Forcella at the meeting. Michelle Brownstein called his work “visionary.”

Forcella’s contract extends though June 30, 2018.

His new annual base salary is $208,000, effective July 1st of this year. His annual retirement match is $720.
