Local schools, businesses and government offices are closing due to inclement weather.

Local schools are closed on Thursday:

  • Alamance – Burlington Schools
  • Chapel Hill – Carrboro City Schools
  • Chatham County Schools
  • Durham Public Schools
  • Orange County Schools
  • St. Thomas More Catholic School
  • Woods Charter School

CHCCS canceled what was originally scheduled as an optional teacher workday. Orange County Schools are also closed to staff on Thursday.

Durham Tech will close all campuses on Thursday.

UNC – Chapel Hill is operating under Condition 2 until 5 p.m. on Thursday, meaning all non-mandatory operations are suspended. Classes are not scheduled to get back underway until next week.

Chatham and Orange County courts are canceled Thursday.

Orange County Government offices are closed Thursday. Carrboro administrative offices are closed Thursday. Chatham County offices are closed Thursday and will delay opening Friday until 11 a.m.

The Chapel Hill Public Library will delay opening until 10:30 a.m. Thursday. Chatham County libraries are delaying opening for two hours.

The Chapel Hill Visitors Center will be closed Thursday.

Chapel Hill Transit will begin operating local routes at 10 a.m. Thursday.

Chapel Hill – Carrboro Meals on Wheels will not deliver lunches on Thursday.

Carolina Dialysis in Carrboro reported the business will delay opening until 8 a.m. University Place will open at noon Thursday. Ackland Art Museum is closed Thursday. Merritt’s Grill is closed on Thursday. Southern Season will close at 5 p.m. on Thursday.

The latest shift in the forecast came at 7:15 P.M. Wednesday from the National Weather Service putting Orange County further into the projected path of the storm. New estimates from NWS project 2-3 inches of snow possible in Orange County. That caused the NWS to issue a Winter Weather Advisory for Orange County.
