CHAPEL HILL – You can join Chapel Hill High School’s Bill Melega for two lecture series on the Civil War and World War II in 2014.

Melega, the 2010 Veterans of Foreign War’s Teacher of the Year, joined Ron Stutts on the WCHL Thursday Morning News to talk about the events. It’s not the first time Melega has hosted a lecture series, but he decided to bring them back because of the success the first go-around. He said it’s his goal to make history come alive.

“We kicked up this idea to have a lecture series on some of my best Civil War lessons and World War II lessons and open it up the the community to demonstrate: ‘This is what your kids are getting to experience everyday.’ It’s the Civil War, but it is how to think and how to solve problems. It is the knitty-gritty details outside of the glamorous details that you hear, and it was amazingly successful,” Melega said.
