Chapel Hill – Carrboro Meals on Wheels celebrated its 40th anniversary with a luncheon honoring longtime volunteers on Wednesday.

Pam Drake, Nell and CL Morton, Jane Walker, Susan Sellet, Jeanie Arnel and Mary Alice Eckman were among the volunteers honored. Arnel was the director of the local MOW for 30 years.

Stacy Yusko has served as the nonprofit’s executive director since 2006, after starting as a volunteer in 1998, and she said in a release that the organization is excited about its past and future.

“I am thrilled to be a part of the continued growth and expansion of this organization. In 2016 we are focusing on a rebranding strategy and on an increased community effort to recruit local volunteers. None of this would have been possible without the hard work of the folks that began the program in 1976.”

Chapel Hill – Carrboro Meals on Wheels volunteers donated 17,000 hours of time delivering 41,000 meals to over 270 clients in 2015, according to the release.
