On Thursday, December 22, Durham’s Carolina Theatre will host a “holiday mashup” featuring music, dance, storytelling and Santa Claus – all to benefit a local organization that exists solely to promote kindness and empathy.

It’s the Inspire MEdia Network. Founded by Chris Rosati – who decided to make kindness his life’s mission after he was diagnosed with ALS in 2010 – Inspire MEdia works in schools to encourage kids to “think outside the box” and imagine new ways to encourage people to be more excellent to each other.

Thursday’s event is a family-friendly affair. Beginning at 6 pm and running for an hour and a half, “The BIGG Holiday Mashup” features music from the Bulltown Strutters and the Durham Ukulele Orchestra, gospel singing by Mary Williams, a cappella from the Seven Deadly Bibs, a storyteller from the Monti, dancers from Barriskill Dance Theatre School, and more. (“BIGG,” incidentally, stands for “Big Idea for the Greater Good.”)

Andrea Griffith Cash is one of the organizers; she spoke with Aaron Keck on WCHL.

Tickets for the event range from $8-14; you can purchase them online at this link.
