Ever wanted to live in an actual work of art?
There’s a bird in Chapel Hill who’s making your dream a reality.
Shannon Bailey sent us these photos this weekend. You’re looking at a metal sculpture of a dogwood tree by local artist Justin Blatt (installed last summer in the Ackland Sculpture Garden), which includes a bird’s nest crafted out of steel. Not exactly meant for habitation – but this year a robin evidently decided to take up residence in it.
She and her babies appear to be doing fine.
The jury’s still out on whether steel wires are any more comfortable than wooden twigs.
