ORANGE COUNTY – A 142-room Hampton Inn is set to open up in Carrboro this month bringing more businesses and amenities to the area with a 500 space parking garage and a couple of new businesses.

Co-owner of Calavera Empanada’s in Raleigh is planning to install East Main Meatball Shoppe along with a spinoff of Calavera with an empanada and tequila bar; Cameron’s from University Mall is moving to this new location; and Hickory Tavern, a Charlotte based sports café will open in the new building.

The new development is located on the 300 block of East Main Street in Carrboro.

Over the past couple of months several new stores and restaurants opened in the area.  Some of the new places include:

Mozzarella, formerly Trilussa la Trattoria, has a new menu and manager that is mixing the Italian cuisine with a blend of French, Asian, and Mediteranean.

Hummus Café opened in the building that previously hosted Hot dogs and Brew. Its menu includes falafel, gyros, Panini sandwiches, and soups.

Kalamaki Greek Street Food opened in the courtyard at 431 West Franklin Street. A Greek themed restaurant that offers grilled skewers, gyros, lemon chicken, and other popular Greek food.

Another Greek restaurant called Pita Grill opened in North Chapel Hill in the Timberlyne shopping center offering a wide selection of Greek cuisine.

Mixed Casual Korean Bistro is a restaurant featuring items with the Korean Bibimbap, a rice based dish with vegetables and meat sauce.

And coming soon to the area include:

The Gentleman’s Corner will open next spring on 140 West Franklin Street.  This store offers upscale men’s clothing with brands like vineyard vines, southern tide, and Hickey Freeman.

Other places like Spicy Nine, Gigi’s Cupcakes, and Old Chicago Pizza and Taproom are also planning to open on 140 West Franklin.
