The race is held to raise money for Special Olympics North Carolina and is being held in partnership with the Hillsborough Running Club, according to organizers.

The race will start near the intersection of East King and South Cameron Streets and will continue onto South Cameron Street and the Riverwalk. The path then loops Gold Park and return to the starting line.

The 5K will mean South Cameron Street will be closed south of East King Street from approximately eight o’clock until 10 Saturday morning.

Downtown residents are also advised to expect additional noise during to and prior to the event.
