After two years at the helm, Hillsborough/Orange County Chamber of Commerce CEO Sara Stephens is leaving for a job with the Greater United Way of the Greater Triangle.

“Sara brought a lot of energy to the Chamber and helped us as we continue to actualize our vision,” stated Board President Jonna Hunt in a statement. “She will be missed.”

“While Sara will be missed,” continued Hunt, “the Chamber board is already working to find a replacement who will not only continue the positive impact Sara made, but also continue to push us forward to becoming better at our pursuit of continuous improvement with serving the business community. We are excited for Sara, certainly, and we are excited about what lies ahead for us as a community organization.”

Program Development Director Kim Tesoro will act as Interim CEO while the search for a new CEO is underway.

Stephens begins her new position in early December with United Way of the Greater Triangle as Director of Individual Giving. “I will miss our Chamber members,” stated Chamber CEO Sara Stephens, “but I’m excited that I’ll still be very active in this community, so I will continue to interact with our members, just in a different capacity.”

While searching for the new CEO, the Chamber will continue to provide outstanding service to members. Stephens’ last Business After Hours as Chamber CEO will be November 17th at 5:30pm at The Hot Tin Roof, located at 115 West Margaret Lane in Hillsborough
