CHAPEL HILL – The Town of Chapel Hill is hosting several campaigns this month to promote safety at crosswalks for both pedestrians and motorists.

Officers will give helpful advice to help crosswalk safety at different locations throughout the month.  The next campaign is Wednesday at 9:00 a.m. near Chapel Hill Town Hall.

Officers will organize safety programs for middle school students and post banners about safety as an ongoing event.

During the campaigns officers may cite motorists and pedestrians for violations. Fines and court costs for these violations begin at $213.

The Chapel Hill Philharmonic presents a free children’s concert “Musical Stories” on October 20 at 3:00 p.m. at the Kenan Rehearsal Hall on UNC’s campus.

Guest conductor Evan Feldman from the UNC Department of Music will lead an orchestra in Coplans’ lively “Hoedown from Rodeo.” Animation from the film “Fantasia 2000” will be combined with music throughout the concert.  Children may even conduct the orchestra during the conclusion.

On Saturday, October 26 the Kidzu Children’s Museum is hosting a fall festival with several activities for children at the Carrboro Farmers’ Market.

The Market runs from 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and the event begins at 8:30 a.m.  The event includes beekeeping demonstrations, cider pressing, live music, pumpkin face painting and several themed kids’ activities.
