Chapel Hill is the best place in North Carolina for singles and the 23rd best place in the entire country.

The website FindTheHome selected the best city or town for singles in each state.  Their report is based on percentage of residents who have never been married, restaurants, movie theatres, bars, and museums per 10,000 people, and WalkIQ.  WalkIQ measures the walkability of an area.

That information is calculated to form a “Singles Index.”  The Chapel Hill Singles Index is 84.1.  The numbers were done by Dun & Bradstreet.

In Chapel Hill, 54.3% of people have never been married.  The WalkIQ is 71.

Other college towns did well on the list.  State College, Pennsylvania (home of Penn State) topped the list.  Ithaca, New York (home of Cornell), East Lansing, Michigan (home of Michigan State), College Park Maryland (home of the University of Maryland), and New Brunswick, New Jersey (home of Rutgers) completed the top 5.

Carrboro topped similar nationwide list for singles back in October of 2015.  But, with a population of 19,582 according to the 2010 Census, Carrboro was not eligible for the FindTheHome recognition.  Cities had to have a population of 25,000 people to be considered in the rankings.
