The Chapel Hill License Place Agency will reopened Wednesday in its previous location on Franklin Street.
The agency was closed and its contract cancelled in mid-July after an anonymous tip that resulted in an investigation by the DMV License and Theft Bureau for possible violations of state laws.
Until a new contract to operate is awarded, the office will be staffed by DMV employees.
The DMV is currently accepting applications for potential agency contractors through Sept. 6.
The office will be open Mondays- Fridays 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
LPAs offer vehicle registration services and title transactions, as well as vehicle license plate renewals, replacement tags and duplicate registrations.
