CHAPEL HILL – Buy a sub at Jersey Mike’s Wednesday and you’ll help fight cancer.

Jersey Mike’s kicks off its “Month of Giving” by a day of giving in which 100 percent of the proceeds go to The V Foundation for Cancer Research. The V Foundation was formed by the late NC State basketball coach Jimmy Valvano just months before he lost his battle with cancer in 1993.

All Triangle locations of Jersey Mike’s are participating in the event, including the Elliot Road location in Chapel Hill.

Since ’93, The V Foundation has awarded more than $100 million to more than 100 facilities.

The Town of Chapel Hill is asking for feedback on the Central West Focus Area, and its quick-and-easy ten-question survey remains open until 5:00 p.m. Thursday.

Carolina North is the largest single portion of the Central West Focus Area, but it also includes a major portion of Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd. and Estes Dr. with discussion involving transportation. The Chapel Hill Public Library, Phillips Middle, Estes Hills Elementary, and Eastwood Lake are also within the border.

The Central West Focus Area was defined as part of the Chapel Hill 2020 process.
