CHAPEL HILL – Sugarland on Franklin Street is holding a benefit Wednesday to raise funds for victims of the tornado that hit Moore, Oklahoma, last month.

One of the company’s employees is from Moore—some of her family members lost everything in the tornado last month.

The dessertery will donate 100 percent of the proceeds from both the Chapel Hill and Raleigh locations to the relief effort.

“It’s amazing how we can come together for people in our community, and also people who are thousands of miles away. We’ve been amazed by the outpouring of support so far and we hope it will continue,” said Hannah Walker of Sugarland.

Walker says Sugarland will continue to accept donations through the weekend.
