Orange Water and Sewer Authority customers may see pressure changes or discoloration in their water this week.

OWASA is testing new pumps in northwest Carrboro. The stirring up of settled iron particles can cause discoloration. If your water looks strange, run cold water from the faucet for five to ten minutes.

Keep in mind that washing light-colored clothes in discolored water may stain them. Customers with discolored water should run empty or dark loads through the washing machine first.

The new pumps are being tested to make sure they work properly. This week’s test is part of a larger water tank maintenance effort in the Chapelboro area this fall. Customers may notice pressure changes and discoloration for the next three to four months.

The Town of Chapel Hill is seeking your opinion this week, as they host a series of “LUMO Update” events.

The Town Council is launching another Design 2020 project, which is part of the Chapel Hill 2020 comprehensive plan.

The latest project seeks to review and update Chapel Hill’s 10-year-old Land Use Management Ordinance, or “LUMO”. This ordinance mandates land use and development rules for the city.

There was a LUMO Launch Event Tuesday night at Extraordinary Ventures in Chapel Hill. Town staff gave an overview of the project, and asked for public input at the meeting.

Meetings will be held Wednesday and Thursday nights to hear from stakeholders. Both meetings will be held at the Chapel Hill Library. Wednesday’s meeting is at 6:00 p.m.; Thursday’s is at 5:30 p.m.
