CHAPEL HILL –  Orange County celebrates its retired senior volunteers Wednesday from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at its annual RSVP (Retired Senior Volunteer Program) recognition banquet.

Volunteers 55 years and older are always encouraged to spend their free time holding others, and for all the many people who do, the County annually gives thanks.

Ron Stutts will be on hand to emcee the event.

North Carolina Prevention Partners (NCPP) launched its new Outpatient Quit-Tobacco System earlier this month to its 15 tobacco-free hospital campaign members in New York City.

The three-step campaign guides hospitals to adopt a tobacco-free campus policy and help employees stop smoking using NCPP’s WorkHealthy America product.

NCPP also created an outpatient quit-tobacco system product at the request of the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene which will help expand the number of health care providers who can successfully help their patients to quit tobacco use.

The program has also been made possible in part by additional funding from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

The Town of Chapel Hill is looking for landlords, property owners, and property managers to join its newly launched Landlord Partnership Program.

The town-wide voluntary program offers services such as open lines of communication to the Town, resources for others to find the rental properties, and increased tenant awareness about ordinances and regulations, among other things.

If you have questions about the program, contact Housing and Neighborhood Services Planner II, Megan Wooley at 919-969-5059 or mwooley@townofchapelhill.org.
