CHAPEL HILL – Power was restored to all costumers in Orange County by 8:20 p.m. Sunday after more than 12 hours in the dark.

The Chapel Hill Police Department announced that contractors remained on the scene at the corner of Ephesus and Legion roads, but that power was fully restored to the close to 350 customers who spent Sunday without power.

Some customers had their power restored earlier, but in order to complete the repairs, a part of the area had to be shut down again for an hour.

The widespread outage was the result of an early-morning vehicle accident that wiped out a power pole. You can see images and get the full story about the accident by clicking here. However, the accident is still under investigation.
