Parks & Rec Interim Director; County Fair Survey; General Fund Applications
CHAPEL HILL – Jim Orr will serve as Interim Director for the Chapel Hill Parks and Recreation department beginning on January 1.
In the time from now until January 1, Orr will be transitioned into the position while former director Butch Kisiah transitions out.
Orr has a long history with parks and recreation. He served as director of the Black Mountain, NC Parks and Recreation department, and also had leadership positions in the Asheville Parks and Recreation department.
The Orange County “County Fair Working Group” invites the public to take a survey exploring the possibilities for an Orange County Fair.
The Board of Orange County Commissioners appointed the Working Group to look at possibly organizing a County Fair in 2015. A meeting to discuss the group’s October findings will be on November 12 at 7:00 p.m. at the Link Government Services building.

The Orange County Finance and Administrative Services Department is encouraging outside agencies to submit applications for General Fund appropriations that support vital community services.
Beginning Monday, applications for the 2014-15 fiscal year will be available online. Agencies are also invited to attend an orientation meeting on November 21 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Carrboro Century Center.
