CHAPEL HILL – This Wednesday, Top of the Hill’s Great Room is playing host to LUNAFEST, a “festival of short films by, for, and about women.” LUNAFEST is organized by Team LUNA Chix Chapel Hill Cycling, to raise money for Girls on the Run of the Triangle and the Breast Cancer Fund.

The festival also includes a cocktail reception and raffle prizes. It gets under way at 6:30 p.m.; tickets are $20 or $40 for VIP seating.

This Wednesday, Sugarland on Franklin Street is holding a benefit day to raise funds for victims of the tornado that hit Moore, Oklahoma, last month. On that day, Sugarland will donate 100 percent of the proceeds from both of its stores to the relief effort.

Thousands of people were affected by the devastating tornado—including the family of a Sugarland employee, whose home was destroyed when it swept through the town.

The Inter-Faith Council for Social Service is celebrating its 50th anniversary this week with a “Golden Event” on Thursday at the Friday Center. At the event, the IFC will honor 50 Heroes and Heroines from its long history, as well as 50 organizations who have made its success possible through the years.
