CHAPEL HILL – While Chapel Hill road construction is wrapping up with the return of students and teachers, the Town of Hillsborough is beginning some resurfacing projects this week.

The removal of failing asphalt and paving was scheduled to begin Monday on a number of roads; due to rain, that work will likely be held off until Tuesday or later with rain expected all week.

Residents and businesses that are expected to be affected by the road work will be notified through fliers when the contractors will be on their street.

The work is schedule to be completed by September 30.

Road construction will take place on the following roads:

Cates, Dana, Jamie, Pond Lilly, Robert, Sand, Uphill, Westdale, Wildaro courts

Exchange Park, Faribault, Magnolia lanes

Freeland Drive, Pointe Place, Rhonda Road, and Turner Street

The Orange County Health Department is expanding its services through a partnership with Piedmont Health in an effort to minimize the gap in affordable health services in the county.

Beginning Wednesday, Piedmont Health will provide patients within the Orange County Health Department’s Hillsborough clinic location with outreach services. The goal is to help establish primary care to those who are currently ineligible for services at the OC Health Department.

During the partnership’s pilot phase, a medical team from Piedmont Health will see patients on Wednesdays from
8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at the Health Department’s clinic located at 300 West Tryon Street in Hillsborough. Adding
four hours of clinical time each week will enable an additional 40 patients to receive care per month. Services will
be provided by Dr. Oscar Cornelio and medical assistant, Mauricio Flores. Payment options include Medicaid,
Medicare, private insurance, and self-pay based on a sliding fee scale. Appointments can be made by calling
Piedmont Health at 336.562.3311.

The Chatham County Solid Waste and Recycling Division is seeking input from residents about various recycling programs and its collection centers.

In your summer tax bill, ChathamCounty residents will receive a green insert with a link to the survey. However, the link was printed incorrectly. The correct link is www.surveymonkey.com/s/RecycleChatham2013.

You can also complete the survey by visiting any of the 12 collection centers or the main solid waste and recycling facility on County Landfill Road west of Pittsboro.

The survey is due September 20.
