The Town of Hillsborough has a lot of fun stuff coming up next weekend, for those of you with lots of leftover holiday spirit from Thanksgiving.

The Holiday Parade is on Dec. 6.

“That’s going to be a little different this time,” said Hillsborough Mayor Tom Stevens. “It’s going to be in the evening and start at 4:45.

“I’m encouraging folks to continue to hang out,. Once you’ve come to the parade, you probably want to be closer to downtown, because the lighting will be a lot better. It’ll be a great parade way here. There are a lot of folks who’ve signed up for it.

“Hang out at the restaurants, and then, at 8 o’clock, we’re going to have the tree lighting.”

The parade starts at Corbin Street, and ends at East Margaret Lane. The Orange Community Players will be caroling and reading stories to kids at the site of the tree lighting, in front of the Old Courthouse.

The next day, on Sunday, Dec. 7, there will be Crafts Fair at the Big Barn at Daniel Boone.

Also on that day, residents and visitors can enjoy the Annual Holiday Home Tour.

The Orange Community Players have teamed up with the Hillsborough Chamber of Commerce to provide a special treat this year.

“They’re going to have little vignettes and stories,” said Stevens, “and it’s going to be in honor of veterans. It is Pearl Harbor Day. And so, not only will you get to see the house all decorated up, but you’ll get to hear a story, either from the Revolution, or from the Vietnam era, or from the Civil War.”

Tickets for the 28th Annual Hillsborough Home Tour are $15 in advance, and $20 the day of the event for adults; and $5 for children.

For information about purchasing tickets, you can go to hillsboroughchamber.com, or call 919-732-8156.

Tickets are also available at the Hillsborough Chamber of Commerce at 1000 Corporate Drive, Suite 301; and the Hillsborough Visitors Center at 150 East King Street.
