Get your hair cut at Great Clips on Saturday or Sunday, August 2 and 3, and you’ll be donating to a great local cause.

On those two days, the Great Clips locations in Meadowmont, New Hope Commons, and Carrboro Plaza will be donating 10 percent of their proceeds to the Ronald McDonald House and the SECU Family House of Chapel Hill.

Both the Ronald McDonald House and the SECU Family House provide a “home away from home” for families traveling to Chapel Hill to seek treatment at UNC Hospitals.

You’re invited to come experience the history of Orange County’s Occoneechee Speedway at an event called “Stores and Stories” on Sunday, August 17.

Sponsored by the Orange County Historical Museum and the Historic Speedway Group, the event will feature speakers talking about the track and their memories of past races. Speakers include Bill Blair, Jr., the son of NASCAR driver Bill Blair, and Historic Speedway Group founder Frank Craig. You’ll also be able to check out some vintage race cars as well.

“Stores and Stories” begins at 2:00 p.m. at the Big Barn Convention Center in Hillsborough. It’s free and open to the public.
