CHAPEL HILL – Orange County promotes smoking cessation and supportive environments during the Great American Smokeout.

On the third Thursday of November, The American Cancer Society promotes the Great American Smokeout as an inspiration for smokers to make a plan to quit.

Orange County has embraced a comprehensive approach to tobacco prevention and cessation, by making many resources available to smokers who want to quit.

Church Street will be closed between W. Rosemary and Franklin between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. this Sunday.

Only the sidewalk on the east side of Church will be open, and the road will be closed for HVAC work on the 140 West apartments.

Chapel Hill Transit will provide Tar Heel Express shuttle service today for the North Carolina men’s basketball game against Old Dominion University at 12:00 p.m.

Shuttles will begin at 9:00 a.m. up from the park and ride lots at the FridayCenter and University Mall, and 10:30 a.m. from the Jones Ferry and Southern Village park and ride lots.  The shuttles will run continuously every 10-15 minutes and will operate for 45 minutes after the game.

Tickets are $3 for one-way and $5 for round-trip.
