By Brian Alluisi Posted July 30, 2013 at 10:31 pm

ORANGE COUNTY – You may want to avoid the intersection of Hillsborough Road and James Street in Carrboro for the time being as construction to improve the traffic at the light began Tuesday.

The improvements that the NCDOT and contractors have in mind entail: demolition of an existing curb, installation of new curbing and center island, asphalt repairs, and new pavement markings for new cross walk.

As your summer is heading towards its conclusion, Orange County Animal Services is promoting reduced adoption fees during the month of August.

Adoption fees for dogs and cats will be reduced by nearly 50 percent for a “Back to School” adoption event.

The animals always come spayed or neutered, fully vaccinated, and vet checked.  Optional microchips are available for an additional $25.  Cat fees are reduced to $50; dog fees are reduced to $60.

If you’re planning on making a trip to the Bahamas next year, Raleigh-Durham International airport might make traveling easier. Beginning December 21, Delta Air Lines will offer non-stop service from Raleigh-Durham Airport to Nassau every Saturday.

Nassau will be the fourth non-stop international flight that RDU offers. The new flight will replace the non-stop to Freeport by Vision Airlines.
