Internationalist Books and Nightlight in Chapel Hill are working together to present the Fifth Annual Carrboro Anarchist Bookfair this weekend.

Scheduled workshops include “Glimpses of a Past in Revolt: A Multimedia Presentation of Struggle in North Carolina” at Internationalist Books at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.

It’s a history of insurrectionist movements in North Carolina, dating back to freed and escaped slaves living in the Great Dismal Swamp of North Carolina and Virginia between 1700 and the 1860s; and continuing through prison riots of the 1960s and `70s.

Saturday’s workshops at the bookstore include a lesson on anti-surveillance digital encryption techniques at 11 a.m. on Saturday.

At 1 p.m., there will be a forum on the events in Ferguson, Missouri since Police Officer Darren Wilson shot unarmed teenager Michael Brown on August 9.

A Graffiti Art Walk begins at the Nightlight at 6 p.m., to give participants a chance to look at some anarchist slogans painted around Carrboro.

That’s followed by dinner at 7, and a dance party at Nightlight beginning at 9.
