CHAPEL HILL – Today at 10:00 a.m. the annual Holiday Parade, presented by the Hillsborough/Orange County Chamber of Commerce will take place.

The parade will feature horses, bands, fire engines, antique cars, gymnasts, cheerleaders, and a special visit from a bearded man in a red coat.

The parade will travel south on Churton Street from Corbin Street to Margaret Lane.  At 9:45 a.m. the police will close down Churton Street between U.S. 70/N.C 86 North and U.S. 70-A until 15-20 minutes after the parade.  For parking you can go to the Eno Rive Parking Deck on King Street or in other lots, but there will be limited on-street parking.

Today at 2:00 p.m. the Friends of the Orange County Public Library invite the public to an entertaining talk with local children’s author John Claude Bemis.

A 2013 Piedmont Laureate, Bemis will talk at the Orange Public Library located on Margaret Lane in Hillsborough.

Today before the parade begins enjoy cider, cocoa, children’s activities and crafts at the house museum’s lawn around 10:00 a.m.

Courtesy of the Burwell School Historic Site and Ebenezer Baptist Church, you can set up your lawn chairs and blankets to view the parade.  Following the parade, a concert will be held on the museum’s front porch, featuring holiday music by the Ebenezer Baptist Church choir.  Admission is free for both the parade and the holiday concert.
