Authorities have identified all six people killed when a private jet crashed into a home in Gaithersburg, Maryland yesterday afternoon.

36-year-old Marie Gemmell and her sons 3-year-old Cole and 6-week-old Devon were found dead in a bathroom on the second floor of their home.

A spokesman for the Montgomery Fire department said Gemmell’s body covered the boys in an apparent attempt to shield the children from the fire.

The plane was registered to Dr. Michael Rosenberg, CEO of Durham-based Health Decisions. He died in the crash along with two passengers.

One of those passengers was David Hartman, vice president of clinical pharmacology, pharmacokinetics and nonclinical development at Nuventra Inc., also based in Durham. The third passenger was Chiji Ogbuka, a regulatory affairs manager with Health Decisions.

The Washington Post reports that it was the second time that Rosenberg had crashed while landing at the Montgomery County Airpark. In March 2010, he suffered minor injuries when he crashed a Socata TBM 700, a turbo-propeller plane.

Federal investigators have recovered the cockpit voice and flight data recorders. Officials say they may be on the scene for the next week collecting evidence.
