ORANGE COUNTY – Interim Orange County Manager Michael Talbert said the recovery efforts in the area in response to the winter storm have been successful because of the coordination between our local government agencies.

Talbert spoke with WCHL’s Aaron Keck Thursday evening to give an update on the County’s clean up efforts.

“We have been in coordination with all of the fire and public safety officials county-wide. We have worked with the Highway Patrol. We have had issues with a lot of abandoned cars, not only in the Chapel Hill area, but at the I-85 corridor. All of our forces have worked well together. It has been a concerted effort. We are very grateful for the cooperation with Carrboro, Chapel Hill, Hillsborough and the Highway Patrol. That effort has made a very safe environment given the hazardous conditions we are dealing with,” he said.

Talbert, like other municipal and county leaders, advised people to stay off the road, even after the snow has stopped falling. His said this had helped to reduce accidents in the County so far, though he had seen a number of abandoned cars.
