Six Chapel Hill residents have put their names forward to be appointed to the vacant seat on the Town Council.

-Kevin Hicks previously served on the Town’s Justice in Action Committee and Community Policing Advisory Committee. He currently serves on four boards in the Triangle area that focus on youth, bicycling and greenways.

-Adam Jones has served on eight boards and organizations, including the Orange County Economic Development Commission; Gimghoul Neighborhood Board of Directors, on which he served as secretary; and Preservation North Carolina.

-Paul Neebe, who ran for the Town Council in 2013, has served on the Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Board. He is a 48-year resident of Chapel Hill.

-Michael Parker currently serves as the Planning Commission’s Transportation and Connectivity Champion. He served on the Town’s Transportation Board for nearly three years.

-Amy Ryan, who ran for the Town Council in 2013, serves as the Vice Chair and Community Design Champion on the Town’s Planning Commission.

-Gary Shaw is a former UNC-Chapel Hill faculty member and has lived in Chapel Hill for more than 20 years.

The applicants are hoping to fill Matt Czajkowski’s vacant seat. Czajkowski resigned in March to move to Rwanda.

The hopefuls will have a chance to address the council at a special meeting on Monday. The council could choose to appoint someone on May 4.
