Bonnie Hammersley is your new Orange County Manager.

The selection was announced Monday afternoon; her first day on the job is June 25.

The Board of County Commissioners will officially vote on the hire at a public hearing on Thursday. Hammersley will be available for a “meet and greet”, which is open to the public, Friday at the Link Government Services Center on Cameron Street in Hillsborough.

Hammersley has served in county government for 26 years, most recently as County Administrator for Muskegon County, Michigan. She was the first woman to fill that role beginning in 2009.

More than 50 applications from 15 states showed their interest in the position.

The County Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the county’s government. She will report directly to the Board of County Commissioners.

Michael Talbert is currently serving as Interim County Manager. He will retire June 30.
