Corey Root will serve as the county’s new Homeless Program Coordinator.
The county manager’s office announced the hire on Thursday.
Root will “lead and coordinate the effort to develop a comprehensive approach to ending homelessness in Orange County,” according to a release.
Root will work to assist at-risk and currently homeless individuals in pursuing services by working with the Orange County Social Services and Housing Departments.
Root joined the statewide nonprofit North Carolina Coalition to End Homelessness in April 2013, according to a release, managing the NC Balance of State Continuum of Care.
Root will begin working on Monday, March 21.
