ORANGE COUNTY – Orange County Commissioners will discuss fire district tax rates at a budget work session Tuesday.

Ten of the county’s 12 fire districts are asking the board to raise fire district tax rates. If approved, the *Greater Chapel Hill Fire Service District rate would double from 7 and a half cents to 15 cents per hundred dollars of assessed value, the highest in the county.

The board will also discuss what funding to allocate to nonprofits next year, and continue a review of the county’s five year capital investment plan.

The board meets at 7:00 p.m. at the Southern Human Services Center on Homestead Road.
