The North Carolina Senate has selected their eight representatives to serve on the UNC System Board of Governors.

The board is made up of 32 members who are appointed by state lawmakers. Every two years 16 of the four-year terms expire and state representatives from the House and Senate select replacements.

The Senate announced their eight selections on Wednesday afternoon.

Chairman Jon Fennebresque has been selected for another term, as well as Vice Chair Louis Bissette.

Joining them, Hiram Frank Grainger and Anna Spangler Nelson were selected to serve another term on the board.

Newcomers to the UNC Board of Governors are Thom Goolsby – who served as a State Senator from 2010 – 2014, O. Temple Sloan III, William Webb – who is a former US Magistrate Judge – and Michael Leighton WIlliford.

Seven of the eight selected for terms on the Board of Governors are registered Republicans, the other is unaffiliated.

The final eight members of the new BOG will be selected by the NC House of Representatives.
