Three benefactors of UNC-Chapel Hill have been honored by the by the General Alumni Association with medals for distinguished service to the university.

The medals were awarded to Steven Farmer, Michael Kennedy and Sallie Krawcheck during a spring reunion held earlier this month for university alumni.

Farmer earned praise for establishing the Carolina College Advising Corps, which facilitates the collegiate enrollment of students at underserved high schools.

Kennedy received attention for promoting equity through the creation of the Minority Alumni Committee and Alumni Committee on Racial and Ethnic Diversity.

Krawcheck was recognized for using her experience in the financial sector to manage university money as a member of the UNC Foundation Investment Board.

The General Alumni Association has sustained the friendships of graduates and promoted the welfare of the university since its inception in 1843.
