****UPDATE: Old Fayetteville Road reopened at 9:40 a.m., according to Carrboro Fire officials. Chapel Hill Transit routes are returning to normal service.****

Emergency crews are fighting a fire in Carrboro Wednesday morning. The fire has caused Old Fayetteville Road to be closed as of 6 a.m.

Carrboro Fire and Police are on the scene of what town officials described as a “barn fire” at 211 Old Fayetteville Road.

There are also several apartment complexes on Old Fayetteville Road, but it is not known that any are impacted by the fire.

Officials said there were no injuries reported in the fire, but two “small animals” were found deceased in the barn.

The street closures are also causing multiple Chapel Hill Transit routes – the CPX and CM routes – to be detoured until further notice.
