CHAPEL HILL – Rain won’t stop the party at a local high school this weekend. Chapel Hill High School hosts Tiger Chill Sunday afternoon, and you don’t want to miss it.

Chapel Hill High School’s PTSA, student clubs, and athletic teams are teaming up to host Tiger Chill to raise money for their organizations. Co-chairs Sondra Komada and Laura Malinchock joined Ron Stutts in to the studio this past week to tell you why.

“I want to encourage everybody from two to 92 to come out,” Malinchock says. “There’s going to be something for everyone; it’s not just for the high school kids. The high school kids are actually the ones working it and running it. So, it’s for everybody in the community to come out and enjoy and feel some of the Tiger spirit we have at Chapel Hill High.”

Tiger Chill is featuring Bullock’s Barbeque, game booths, shopping vendors, performances, and one very special event.

“If the rain holds out, we’re going to have sledding on real snow,” Malinchock says.

“They’s brining in six tons of ice and snow,” Komada says.

“Wow,” says Stutts.

“And it really is cool,” Komada says.

And Komada says she’ll be the first one down the hill.

The event is a fun way to raise funds for special events throughout the year. But Malinchock says it also brings parents, teachers and students together as a team.

“It is so awesome,” Malinchock says. “Last year was our first one. Stepping back away from it after all the hard work, and seeing parents, teachers, and kids all working side by side, it’s actually giving me chill bumps right now, because it really is a cool thing.”

Tiger Chill begins Sunday at 3:00 p.m. and runs until 7:00 p.m. at Chapel Hill High School. For more information, click here.
