CHAPEL HILL -The Chapel Hill Historical Society is hosting a one-woman play this Sunday at Top of the Hill from 5 to 7 p.m. The star of the show is Barbara Bates Smith—a Southeastern Theatre Best Actress winner.

Richard Ellington, president of the Chapel Hill Historical Society, says it’s their biggest fundraiser of the year and all proceeds will benefit the society.

“They are doing a story a based on Lee Smith’s book, On Agate Hill, which is loosely based on Chapel Hill,” Ellington said. “That’s what this whole thing is about. We tried to find something that is appealing or relevant to the Chapel Hill/Carrboro Community. We hope to raise funds for the programs and communities that we put on.”

Smith will be accompanied by music from Jeff Sebens. They two put together the play, which is described as a tale of betrayal, passion and humor.

The evening includes hors d’oeuvres and wine.

Tickets will be on sale through Friday—you purchase them by going to their office at 523 E. Franklin or you can call 919-929-1793.
