A minor alley on Franklin Street in the heart of downtown Chapel Hill is receiving major attention during a construction project that will continue through June.

The project is intended to modify a parking lot near the stretch known as Porthole Alley and provide a variety of accessibility improvements for people with disabilities.

That lot will be closed for the next two months along with the alley, but overflow parking for permit holders has been approved for the Nash, Venable, and Morehead lots.

Questions on auxiliary parking arrangements or the scope of construction in the area may be directed to UNC Transportation & Parking at 919-962-3951.
