The Orange County Sheriff’s Office has identified the victim and the alleged perpetrator of Wednesday’s shooting at the Scottish Inn Motel.

Sheriff’s deputies found Amber Leigh Gottschalk of Durham County suffering from multiple gunshot wounds in a parking lot outside the Scottish Inn Motel on US 70, near I-85 near Durham on Wednesday.

Police say her injuries were critical; no update yet on her condition.

Shenandoah Freeman, also of Durham County, is charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury. Freeman was served the warrant while in custody in Wake County Jail on unrelated charges.

In May, Freeman was also charged with assault and kidnapping in Durham County. Police say Gottschalk was the victim in that incident as well.
