***UPDATE: Chapel Hill Police working with UNC and Duke Police after an attempted robbery and armed robbery on E Franklin Street in Chapel Hill on Thursday night. Descriptions in all of the robberies are similar enough for police to be exploring if they are connected.***

Police have released suspect descriptions for the two armed robberies that took place Wednesday night on UNC’s campus.

Two UNC students were robbed at gun point while on campus just before 11 o’clock Wednesday night. UNC Department of Public Safety’s Randy Young says they now have descriptions for the two men involved.

“The armed suspect was described as a black male, between 22 and 24 years old, about 5’10”, with a stocky build and a dark complexion,” he says. “He had a rounder face and a short-fade haircut. And, at the time of the incident, he was wearing a dark tank top.

“The second suspect was described also as a black male, 22 to 23 years old, around 6’ tall, with a thin build and also a dark complexion with short hair.”

Young says the second suspect was wearing a white T-shirt and khaki long pants at the time of the incident. Police believe the suspects were driving a white, four-door sedan. The victims reported no injuries, but the suspects took off with their property and money. Young says police are still investigating, but no arrest warrants have been issued.

“At this point in time, the investigation is ongoing,” he says. “We’re just urging anybody that might have information which would aid us in our investigation to call us at our department or to call 911.”

An alert went out from Duke University on Friday morning that an armed robbery was reported around 1:40 a.m. near 301 Swift Avenue.

In this report, two suspects – one of whom had a handgun – allegedly approached the victim and demanded money before fleeing the scene.

The description of the suspects is very similar to the armed robberies on Carolina’s campus.

No injuries were reported in the Duke robbery.

Anyone with information on any of the incidents is asked to contact authorities.
