A taxi driver was robbed at gunpoint north of Chapel Hill, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.

A message from law enforcement says two individuals were picked up at Pritchard Avenue and told the driver to go to an address in the 6400 block of Union Grove Church Road. After the roughly 10-mile ride, the two passengers – described as black males in their early 20s – pistol whipped the driver, according to authorities.

Officials say the suspects took over $400 in cash from the victim.

One suspect was described as wearing a red hoodie. The second suspect reportedly was wearing a camouflage hoodie.
